Born-Digital Personal Archives: Status, Projects and Ethical Questions

The National Library of Norway manages personal archives from individuals within the cultural and research spheres. Traditionally, these archives consist of papers and letters. The increase in born-digital personal archives over the last twenty years presents depository institutions and their archivists with new challenges in terms of appraising these archives, preserving them and making them accessible.
In the seminar we will discuss technical, legal and ethical challenges based on specific projects in Norway and abroad. Contributors include Thomas Hvid Kromann (Royal Library of Denmark), Anna McNally (Jencks Foundation at The Cosmic House, London), Oscar Rüdeberg (Royal Library of Sweden) and Caylin Smith (Cambridge University Libraries and Archives).
A detailed programme will be published later.
The seminar is free of charge and will be streamed. The seminar language is English.
No registration is required.
