Digital documents
The legal deposit also includes digital documents. If the publication has been released in digital form, for example, by being made freely available or for sale on the Internet, it is subject to legal deposit.

Digital documents published on physical storage media
This refers to CDs, DVDs, and the like. These are subject to legal deposit if they are distributed beyond a limited circle. They should be submitted in three copies. To ensure long-term preservation of the documents, we prefer copies without copy protection.
E-books
E-books that are publicly available must be submitted to the National Library. All different e-book formats are subject to legal deposit.
The publisher is responsible for depositing digital documents. The publisher may optionally make an agreement with a distributor to handle the deposit.
Preferred formats
In principle, the digital document should be submitted in the same format in which it is made publicly available, but some formats are not suitable for preservation. To ensure long-term preservation of the files, they should ideally be in open, non-proprietary formats and without copy protection. It is important that the files are of the highest possible quality, and what is submitted should be the final, published version.
For text documents, we prefer the PDF format, but we can also accept EPUB and other formats. On the following links you can find information about music and moving images.
The costs are covered by the one who deposits.
