Deposit digital music files

The National Library has entered a collaboration with The Orchard/Phonofile regarding digital legal deposit.

Direct uploads to us via this page are therefore intended for releases that are not distributed via The Orchard/Phonofile.

If the release is issued in a physical format such as CD or vinyl, three copies of the CD and two copies of the vinyl must be deposited, regardless of whether the release is deposited digitally. Refer to the legal deposit of music for information about music released in physical formats.

What happens to the material?

Legally deposited digital files will be stored on our secure servers and preserved for the future. Unfortunately, as of today, we do not have solutions that allow us to make deposited music releases available in the same way as physical submissions.

Metadata

Please include the following information about the releases you submit:

Artist name
Release title
Year of release
Label/company
Track titles (if not indicated in the file names)

File format

We wish to receive files with the technical formats and quality that match what is made available to users, but we gladly accept files of higher quality if they are available.
