The archive was created in the 1930ties by grants from the Nansen Fund. Øyvind Anker (1904-1989), University Library, Oslo, compiled a chronological index to the archive, which - with addition of supplementary subtitles and subject headings - has been entered into BIBSYS in 2010 by Anne M.H. Langballe and Elin Grønneberg, National Library of Norway. References to literature on Bjørnson have been found in printed bibliographies, bibliographical databases and secondary literature and controlled by seeing the literature, by Johan Henden and Lars Skotnes. Hege Stensrud Høsøien has been incharge of the project.
