(The seminar will be held in english.)

The photograph of Georg W. Fossum, depicting a crowd witnessing the departure of a boat transporting 529 Norwegian Jews to Auschwitz, was not published before 1994. Since then it has gained a significant place in the visual memory of Holocaust in Norway.
How may the specific history of this picture, be compared to the histories of photographs from other places in Europe? What kinds of significance may the photographs from Holocaust have?
