Tracing the Transnational Crossroads of Books in Early Modern Norway (LitCit), a research project funded by the Research Council of Norway. The conference is part of the National Library\u2019s official celebration of the 500<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of Norwegian printed books in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The history of the printed book in Norway began in Paris and Copenhagen in 1519 with the altar book <em>Missale Nidrosiense<\/em> and the prayer book <em>Breviarium Nidrosiense<\/em>; both printed abroad, but commissioned for a Norwegian readership. Norwegian book production and consumption have always been part of a network of technological, economical, religious and cultural exchange across national borders. This transnational circulation of printed texts has played an important role in transforming readers into citizens, even \u201cliterary citizens\u201d, of the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Researchers from USA, Canada and Europe will participate in the conference and through their contributions shed light on both transnational and transmedial aspects of Nordic and international book history, from the 16<sup>th<\/sup> century up until today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The conference\u2019s keynote speakers are three internationally acclaimed researchers within the field: <strong>Roger Chartier<\/strong> (Professor of Early Modern European History and Culture at \u00c9cole des Hautes \u00c9tudes en Sciences Sociales, Paris, Coll\u00e8ge de France, Paris and the University of Pennsylvania), <strong>Ann Thomson <\/strong>(Professor of European Intellectual History at the European University Institute, Florence) and <strong>Daniel Bellingradt (<\/strong>Professor of Book History at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/soundcloud.com\/nasjonalbiblioteket\/literary-citizenship-roger-chartier\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>You can listen to Roger Chartier\u2019s lecture \u00abLiterary mobilities: materiality of the text, translations and readerships\u00bb on podcast here<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The conference organizing committee consists of Ruth Hemstad (National Library of Norway), Janicke S.
