Norwegian Photographers and Photographic Collections

The database gives access to information about a large number of photographers and photographic collections in Norway. The database mainly includes information about photographers from the early years of the photographic medium from the 1840's up to the 1920's.

At present, we can not display information about living photographers.

Most of the photographers in the database were born in Norway, but a few were from abroad and worked for shorter or longer periods in Norway. Information related to photographic companies is also included. More than 4000 photographers and companies are represented in the database along with 1500 collections distributed among almost 1000 institutions.
