These are the three keywords used in the government's High North strategy to describe this effort.
Knowledge is especially emphasized as an important factor:
"Knowledge is at the core of our High North efforts: building people's knowledge and experience so that we can show the way, utilise existing opportunities, discover new ones and attract other countries that want to take part, invest and share knowledge."
The National Library collection contains much High North material. The more than 7,500 photographs left by Nansen and Amundsen give a unique insight into early Norwegian Polar research. Manuscripts and objects give depth to the picture, and the book collection holds information from several centuries. Through the great digitization effort many extremely hard to find works will become accessible on the Internet, and the cooperation with the rights organizations will make it possible to search contemporary material. In coming months we will make this material searchable in the new search engine at NBdigital.
