The High North

is i nord The High North will be Norway’s most important strategic priority area in the years ahead. The Government will intensify efforts to exercise Norwegian sovereignty and ensure sustainable management of the rich fisheries and energy resources in the region. Norway’s High North policy is intended to protect the environment, maintain settlement patterns and promote business development.
The National Library aims to become a substantial source of knowledge for the understanding of Norway's High North effort, by making digitally accessible both historic and modern content from our collection.

Cooperation between the rights organizations and the National Library

Christian Leden - the forgotten Norwegian Arctic explorer

Christian Leden Organ player, ethnomusicologist, arctic explorer, eskimologist, ethnologist, composer and scientist.
Christian Leden was active in many fields.
The film on the front page was recorded by Leden in East Greenland in 1926.
