Oslo - Gratis suppe og gateteater fra Nationaltheatret til St. Olavs plass, kl. 16.30-18.00Hovmodig, sulten stolt, febril, rasende, forelsket, håpefull og fattig. Nasjonalbiblioteket i samarbeid med Riksteatret markerer åpningen av Hamsun-året 2009 med gateteater inspirert av Knut Hamsuns gjennombruddsroman Sult (1890).

Opening Event of the Knut Hamsun 150th Anniversary Celebrations
Street Theatre in Oslo 19 February – from the National Theatre to St. Olavs plass, 4.30 p.m. – 6.00 p.m.
Arrogant, starving, proud, delirious, furious, in love, hopeful and poor… On Thursday 19 February the opening of the Hamsun Jubilee Year will be marked by an event starting at the National Theatre and finishing at St. Olavs plass in Oslo, featuring excerpts, scenes, dialogues and monologues from Knut Hamsun’s modernist breakthrough novel Hunger (1890):

Follow Ylajali to St. Olavs plass and experience: A hullabaloo on the steps of the National Gallery. Song and music in Studenterlunden. Rejections by newspaper editors. Evictions from lodgings and houses. Quarrels with police constables. Scrap bones and attacks on God. Boisterous conversations with street girls. The National Library and the National Touring Theatre are responsible for the first of four national commemorative events in the Hamsun Anniversary Year. This opening event takes its inspiration from the breakthrough novel Hunger. Most of the Oslo theatres will be contributing to the event, which also includes excerpts from the production of Hamsun’s Street by the National Theatre and the production of Hunger by the Torshov Theatre.
