Photos, prints, and paintings give a unique picture of Norwegian-American life. Not only do they introduce us to prominent members of a community, but also give us insight into daily life and other aspects of the immigrant experience.

This website features photos of important Norwegian-Americans, including authors and church leaders. There are photos and paintings that depict the emigrants' journey over sea and land, their settlements in towns and counties, as well as aspects of farm and city life. The website also features facsimiles of newspapers and magazine covers as well as samples of satirical humor.

The material is mainly from the collection of The Norwegian Emigrant Museum, Hamar, but also includes material from the collections of Nordmanns-Forbundet, Oslo; the Norwegian-American Historical Association, Northfield, MN; Minnesota Historical Association, St. Paul, MN; and the State Historical Society of Wisconsin, Madison, WI.
