How to use the search form
- The database provides "free text" search, which means you may
search for words within selected fields of the records. Characters may be
entered in upper or lower case. Searching is not case sensitive. Boolean
operators Search expressions may be combined using the boolean operators AND,
OR or NOT (if necessary with parentheses to avoid ambiguities). If you wish to
search for phrases containing the words AND, OR eller NOT, these words (or the
whole phrase) must be quoted. Truncation When uncertain of spelling, you may
block one or more characters using the truncation symbols. "?" or "#". Only
right truncation is possible. Too many hits? For the time being there is a
limit of 10 000 hits. If such a search result should occur, please narrow the
search further. Please avoid commonly used words e.g. a , an, the etc.
- Any person associated with the work may be searched for under
"Person" e.g. composer, collector, author or editor. Please bear in mind that
it is necessary to invert the name of the person e.g. GRIEG, EDVARD

- Any person with the surname GRIEG. (The question mark
may be omitted)
- GRIEG,E?
- Any person with the surname GRIEG and a first name starting
with E
- GRIEG,? NOT GRIEG,EDVARD
- Any person with the surname GRIEG except EDVARD GRIEG
- In this field you may search for any kind of title statement.
Please avoid frequently used words.
- This field is for searching for words pertaining to titles, series,
publishers, name of persons, year of publication etc.

- Unless the number is truncated, an exact match will be performed.

- In this field you may search for ISMN (International Standard Music
Number).. Example.: M-66110-003-4 or M661100034.
- Any issue or plate number may be searched for here.
Examples:
- NKF 1116.
- Norske komponisters NKF 881
The search may be restricted to year of publication. .
- The same year in both fields restricts the search to that
particular year.
- Blank first field means no lower limit.
- Blank second field means no upper limit.
- Leave both fields blank for no date restriction at all.
