The National Library of Norway in Oslo offers various reading facilities for different study materials.

Reading Room
The Reading Room is located on the first floor and is opento users of the library’s collections and students bringing in their own books. Reading Room places cannot be reserved in advance.

Reference works
The reference collection in the Reading Room primarily comprises general reference works in various specialist areas, along with a local and genealogical collection. A photocopier is available. Copier cards can be boughtin reception on the ground floor.

Digital Reading Room
The Digital Reading Room is located on the firstfloor and is open to everyone.

The reading room has several PCs. These provide access toall digitalised material in the National Library of Norway and several informationservices, databases and search tools. Copies/printouts can also be made.

Microfilm Reading Room, first floor
The library houses all Norwegian newspapers everpublished. Newspapers must be reserved in advance.
The library offers Norwegian newspapers in paper and digital format and asdigital copies and on microfilm.

Wi-Fi
The National Library of Norway’s Wi-Fi service provides access to information services, databases and search tools. Wi-Fi can be used to connect portable computers and to access the National Library of Norway’s public network.

Special Reading Room, ground floor
The National Library of Norway also has a Special ReadingRoom providing access to private archive material, photographs, old and rareprints and maps and similar artefacts. Materials used in the Special Reading Roommust be ordered at least one day in advance. Special rules apply to use of thematerial.

Mediatek (film and music library), ground floor
The collection includes books and newspapers, notes and manuscripts, film manuscripts, audio tapes, vinyl records and CDs, Norwegian radio and television archives, among others.
You can watch films and listen to music in the viewing and reading rooms. There is also a mini cinema for small groups, and study places. NRK’s radio archive is available for searching and listening in the Mediatek and in the Digital Reading Room. With the exception of books, the material must be reserved in advance.
